IVF Due Date Calculator
Calculate your due date for Day 3 or Day 5 embryo transfers
How IVF Due Dates Are Calculated
IVF due date calculations are based on your embryo transfer date and the developmental stage of the embryo:
- Day 3 transfer: Transfer date + 263 days
- Day 5 transfer (blastocyst): Transfer date + 261 days
These formulas account for the fact that a Day 5 embryo has had 2 additional days of development compared to a Day 3 embryo.

Day 3 vs Day 5 Transfer
Day 3 (Cleavage Stage)
The embryo has divided into 6-8 cells. It will continue developing in the uterus. Due date = transfer date + 263 days.
Day 5 (Blastocyst)
The embryo has developed into a blastocyst with 70-100+ cells. It's ready to implant. Due date = transfer date + 261 days.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is an IVF due date calculated?▾
An IVF due date is calculated from your embryo transfer date. For Day 3 transfers, we add 263 days. For Day 5 (blastocyst) transfers, we add 261 days. This accounts for the embryo's age at the time of transfer.
Is an IVF due date different from a natural conception due date?▾
The calculation method differs because we know the exact date of conception (or very close to it) with IVF. A standard LMP calculation assumes ovulation on day 14, which may not be accurate. IVF dates tend to be more precise because the embryo's age is known.
What is the difference between Day 3 and Day 5 transfer due dates?▾
A Day 5 embryo (blastocyst) is 2 days more developed than a Day 3 embryo at the time of transfer. So for a Day 3 transfer, we add 263 days, and for Day 5, we add 261 days — the 2-day difference accounts for the extra development.
How accurate is an IVF due date calculator?▾
IVF due dates are generally more accurate than LMP-based calculations because the date of conception is precisely known. However, only about 5% of babies arrive on their exact due date regardless of conception method. Your healthcare provider may adjust your due date based on ultrasound measurements.
Does a frozen embryo transfer (FET) affect the due date calculation?▾
No, the due date calculation is the same for fresh and frozen transfers. What matters is whether it's a Day 3 or Day 5 embryo, not whether it was fresh or frozen. The embryo's developmental stage at transfer is the key factor.

Every pregnancy is unique. Due dates are estimates — only about 5% of babies are born on their exact due date. Your healthcare provider may adjust your due date based on ultrasound measurements and other clinical factors.
